    • JR was the third of six children his father dying at the age of 32

      He lived with his parents at 5 Glebe St Bishopwearmouth at the time of the 1881 Census

      At the time of his marriage to Lillie he was living at York Street Sunderland

      On the 1901 Census RG13/4721 Folio 7 page 6 Schedule 38 the couple were living at 24 Charles St. North, Monkwearmouth with their baby daughter Lily. JR was said to be a Brewers Maltsman.

      At the time of Charles Stanley's birth John was a labourer and living in Crow Street

      At the time of Robert's birth John was living at Cecil Street and was a Brewery labourer

      He worked for Vaux Brewery and travelled the country. He liked a drink and under the influence was a soft touch for a sob story.

      In 1918 at the time of Frederick's baptism, John Robert is said to be a soldier.
