  • Notes
    • Frederick Hyatt was assigned to be guardian for Thomas [Benton] and William [H] since they were quite young when their father died. Their mother, Marander(?) Owens must have died before this time. They are living with Frederick when the 1850 census was taken. According to the St Louis County marriage index, William married Eliza O'neil June 9th, 1855. Both he and his brother appear in a family record listing of Lewis Hume cemetery. The family record indicates a stone was found showing Wm B Hume Died Oct 4, 1870 Aged 34 years. The "B" could well have been an "H". There is no record of Thomas Hume in the St Louis County marriage index (thru 1876). Both Thomas and William are shown as property owners of a tract of land adjacent to property owned by Jas S. Hyatt and Jos L Hyatt in the Common Fields of St. Ferdinand in Pitzman's Map of the County of St. Louis, Mo. Published after October, 1868. An image from this atlas of this tract of land is available at the following URL:

William H. Hume is listed on the 1860 census as Farm Hand for Sarah A. Hume.
