    • BIRTH: "Known in Hume vernacular as Virginia George, George Hume, Jr., son of George Hume and Elizabeth Proctor, was born in Culpeper, Virginia, about the year 1729."


      DEATH: "... he died in 1802 and was buried in his native village by the side of his wife."


      WILL: "... his will dated 13 November 1790, was probated in Madison County, Virginia, on 23 December 1802."


      At the outbreak of the Revolution George Hume served as Sergeant in the Company commanded by Captain William Payne Jr., in First Virginia Regiment under command of Colonel George Gibson September 14, 1777 to March 1778.

      George Hume (1729-1802) served, 1777-78, as private and sergeant in Capt. William Payne's company, Col. George Gibson's 1st Virginia regiment. He was born and died in Culpeper County, Va.

      George Hume (1), born in Culpeper, Virginia, in 1729. Married Jane Stanton. Was a surveyor and assisted his father in that trade. He was a sergeant in the company commanded by William Payne, Jr., in the First Virginia Regiment, under the command of Colonel George Gibson, during the Revolutionary War, serving from September 14, 1777 to March 1778. Was at Valley Forge. Their children were:
      1. George Hume, married Susannah Crigler.
      2. Reuben Hume, married Anna Finks.
      3. Charles Hume, married 1st, Lizzle Banks; 2nd, Elizabeth Kirtley.
      4. John Hume, married Anna Crigler.
      5. William Hume, married (???)
      6. Elizabeth Hume, married (???)
      7. Frances Hume, married Joe Delaney.
      8. Sarah Hume, married John Crigler on December 25, 1789.
