1879 HISTORY OF JEFFERSON CO., page 523 Liberty Township. SAMUEL KIRKPATRICK, Farmer, SEC. 8; P.O. Libertyville; owns 172 acres of land; born in Belfast ME., in 1809; has six children. In early life, Mr. K. worked at blacksmithing, and by such work made his start in life, which has now placed him beyond the fear of adversity, and in possession of a fine farm and a beautiful home. Mr. K., in 1861, sent three sons into the field, one of whom is Lt. Kirkpatrick, since deceased, another son, Charles K., is an attorney of promince in Fairfield.
THE FAIRFIELD LEDGER, 21 OCT 1885, P.3, COL. 8. Samuel Kirkpatrick died at his home near Libertyville, IA, Oct 12th... aged 76 years 5 months 2 days. Deceased was born in Belfast, ME. in 1809, and when quite young came with his parents to Muskingum County, Ohio where he lived until married Celena Graham, in 1832. He came to Iowa in 1839, and settled at Ft. Madison. Shortly afterward, he again removed to the farm near Libertyville on which he died. He was for many years a leading man in the M.E. Church (Methodist Episcopal).
LEDGER, Wed. 4 Nov 1885 3 8. Samuel Kirkpatrick died 12th ult. Born in Belfast, ME., 10 May 1809. His parents were Scotch Irish. His grandmother was a Prescott, of the Vermont New England Prescott stock.
In the summer of 1814 the deceased's father, Daniel Kirkpatrick, removed to Muskingum Co., Ohio, where his father died, leaving the deceased and eight small children, brothers and sisters, dependent on him.
In 1836 moved to Mo, temporarily, and thence to Ft. Madison, Iowa, where he lived two years, then near Libertyville. Raised a family of six boys and 3 girls. Three of his sons were lost by the war of 1861.

FAIRFIELD LEDGER, 27 Dec 1893, P. 3, Col. 9. OBITUARY. Mrs. Celina Kirkpatrick died at her home near Libertyville Dec. 15th, age 79 years 6 months 9 days. Deceased was born in Louden (Loudoun?) Co., Va, 6 Jun 1814. She removed to Ohio when 14 years old, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Samuel Kirkpatrick, Feb. 18, 1832. To them were born 9 children. Her husband and 4 children have died. Three sons died in the service of their country. Two sons and three daughters remain.
M.E. Church stated that she, with her husband, came to Iowa in 1840, settling on the farm in Jefferson Co. where she died.
Samuel was editor of "Wallace Farmer" and a State Veternary for years.
