CLAN GATHERING 2008
|
The next Clan Gathering is planned to take place in Berwickshire, Scotland on the weekend of 15th-17th August and a full programme has already been planned for this event which will take place 5 years after our first Gathering in 2003.
STOP PRESS! Applications for the Gathering are still coming in and we are very pleased that there is going to be a good attendance for the various events; in particular it is very good news that some of our American members are coming. There is still time to register for the gathering, so please do come if you can. Saturday 16th AugustThe day will start at our Chief’s home, The Hirsel, where after coffee we shall meet for the AGM and this will be followed by an open discussion. We expect to be able to provide a surprise just before or after lunch at the Hirsel, and then all make their way to Hume Castle. We shall formally raise the Clan Banner for the first time on the new flagpole and then adjourn for tea there. In the evening we will meet again for our formal dinner at Paxton House, the beautiful Palladian mansion built by Patrick Home in the 1750’s. Sunday 17th AugustWe will take an extensive coach tour through Berwickshire and the East March, looking in detail at various places associated with our history and the development of the Eastern Borders over the centuries. Refreshments will probably be taken at two other Hume houses before we end the day with an informal supper and traditional music at Wedderburn Castle. Those who wish to attend must complete an application form which outlines the various elements of the weekend (with costs). Attendees may choose to attend any combination of the events planned. The application form may be downloaded from this site (see top of page). If you have any queries about the gathering then please email clangathering@clan-home.org |
